How I'll Listen works

For seekers

1. Sign up free. Create an account with a username. No real name or payment required to start.
2. Request a listener. Tell us briefly what you want to talk about. We match you with an available, trained listener.
3. Talk. Text or voice, your choice. Sessions are up to 45 minutes. No agenda, no clock-watching — just someone who is here.

Free accounts get two sessions per month. Seeker Plus ($8.99/month) gives you unlimited sessions, priority matching, and voice.

For listeners

1. Apply. Tell us a little about yourself and why you want to listen.
2. Train. Complete our structured active-listening training — typically 4–6 hours over two weeks.
3. Listen. Pick up sessions when you're available. You set your own schedule.

Listeners are unpaid volunteers. The reward is the work itself.

Safety

Every session runs with moderator oversight. Crisis keyword detection alerts a human moderator in real time. If a conversation moves into crisis territory, 988 and Crisis Text Line resources appear automatically and a moderator can intervene.
